광주 지구단위계획의 진단과 방향’ 토론회 개최

○ 광주환경운동연합(공동대표 박태규, 최홍엽)과 광주광역시 지속가능발전협의회(상임회장 김병완)는 3월 26일(월) 오후 2시 광주시의회 5층 예결산특별위원회실에서 ‘지속가능한 도시관리를 위한 광주 지구단위계획 진단과 방향’을 주제로 토론회를 개최한다.

○ 광주시는 지난 2월15일 ‘2030년 광주도시기본계획’을 공고하고 후속으로 ‘2025년 광주도시관리계획 재정비’를 진행하고 있다. 동시에 지구단위계획 수립 지침을 마련중이다.

○ 현재 늘어나는 고층 주거 아파트의 증가와 난개발에 대한 문제 인식을 비롯하여, 지속가능한 도시설계에 대한 시민사회 요구가 크다. 그간 토지소유자나 개발 주체들의 수익성에 우선을 둔 도시개발 형태가 횡행했다. 이 결과로 경관훼손 교통문제 야기 등 도시환경 악화로 이어지고 있다. 도시 공공성, 지속가능성을 담보할 도시관리와 지구단위계획이 수립될 수 있는 구체적 지침이나 제도가 요구되는 이유이다. 광주시도 이와 같은 문제 인식을 공감하고 있으며 우리 지역 여건과 특성이 고려된 지구단위계획이 수립 될 수 있도록 지침을 마련하겠다고 밝히고 있다.
