‘기후변화를 멈춰라(Stop, Climate Change)’  2015 광주 기후행진의 날 열려

 
지난 11월 28일(토) 오후2시 금남로 차없는 거리에서 광주에너지정책네크워크(광주환경운동연합, 기후행동비건네트워크, 광주에코바이크, 광주전남녹색연합, 광주전남불교환경연대)와 (재)국제기후환경센터가 기후변화 당사국총회의 성공 염원과 기후 정의 실현을 위한 시민실천 캠페인의 일환으로 ‘2015 광주 기후행진의 날’ 캠페인을 실시했다.

오는 11월 30일부터 12월 11일까지 파리에서 전 세계 190여개 국가의 대표단이 모여 기후위기에 대응하기 위한 새로운 협약을 도출하는 기후변화협약 당사국총회(COP21)가 개최될 예정이다. 이번 회담은 절체절명의 기후변화 위기를 풀어낼 수 있도록 모든 국가들이 역사상 처음으로 구속력 있는 온실가스 감축안에 합의할 수 있는 기회여서 지구상 가장 중요한 2주일이라고 불리고 있다.

이 기간 동안 우리와 다음 세대를 지켜낼 중요한 열쇠가 될 기후변화협약이 성공적으로 도출되기를 바라는 염원으로 지구촌 곳곳에서 기후행동을 위한 거리행진 및 캠페인, 기후교육 등 다양한 프로그램을 통해 시민의 뜻을 전달하고 있다.

이의 일환으로 광주에서도 금남로 차없는 거리에서 청소년, 대학생, 성인이 참여하는 기후행진과 플래쉬몹을 진행하고 ‘기후변화 이제는 우리가 행동할 때’를 주제를 토크콘서트가 열리는 등 다채로운 프로그램이 진행되었다. 참가자들은 각자의 손피켓에 지구를 위한 메시지를 담아 금남로에 모인 시민들에게 기후변화협약 당사국 총회(COP21)에 대한 관심을 촉구하고 기후변화 극복의 의지를 전달했다. 행사에는 광주광역시 윤장현 시장이 방문하여 참가자들과 기후위기에 대한 이야기를 나누고, 행진에 동참하는 등 시민들과 함께 하는 시간을 가졌다.

참가자들은 “전 세계인이 함께하는 기후행진에 참여하게 되어서 뜻 깊고 파리에서 열리는 기후변화당사국 총회에서 각국 정상들이 보다 적극적인 온실가스 감축안을 만들어 기후변화를 멈추고 지구 위기를 극복할 수 있도록 성공적인 협약이 체결되기를 바란다” 라고 소감을 밝혔다.
