“아마존 산불과 개발을 멈춰라” 아르헨티나, 칠레, 콜롬비아에서 펼쳐진 지구의벗 시위

아마존에서 발생한 대형 산불이 한달 째 이어지고 있습니다. 지금까지 서울시 면적의 15배에 달하는 열대우림이 화마 속에 사라졌고, 지금 이 순간에도 아마존은 불길에 휩싸여있습니다.

아마존의 화재는 올해 들어 더욱 증가했습니다. 그 배경에는 열대우림을 없애고 그 곳을 소 방목장과 콩 등의 작물을 키우는 농지, 그리고 광업 개발지로 만들려는 의도가 있습니다. 그리고 이는 환경 규제를 줄이고 아마존 개발을 촉진시키려는 브라질 보우소나루 정부의 의도와 맞닿아있습니다. (관련 글: 아마존 산불이 더 잦아진 이유)

이에 브라질 주변국인 지구의 벗 아르헨티나, 콜롬비아, 칠레 활동가들과 원주민, 시민들은 각국의 브라질 대사관 앞에 모여 브라질 보루소나루 정부를 규탄하고 아마존 개발을 멈출 것을 촉구했습니다.
