Violation of Freedom of Assembly and Demonstration by Restricting Places

 

Today(25 January 2016), Public Interest Law Center of People's Solidarity for Participatory Democracy (PSPD) submitted its report to the UN Special Rapporteur on the Rights of Freedo of Peaceful Assembly and Association on the concerns related to violation of freedom of assembly and demonstration by restricting places in the Republic of Korea. 

 

In the report, Public Interest Law Center analyzes current laws that restrict places to hold peaceful assembly and also presents its actual application. The Public Interest Law Center suggested the Special Rapporteur to recommend the Government of the Republic of Korea to amend the Assembly and Demonstration Act in a way to fully guarantee people's right to freedom of assembly and demonstration.
