침묵의 살인자, 가습기 살균제
환경운동연합이 가입해 있는 지구의 벗 국제본부에서는 각국의 경제정의를 위한 투쟁영상을 공개하고 있습니다. 한국은 죽음의 가습기살인제, 옥시 레킷벤키저 사태를 다룹니다.

2011년 가습기 살균제를 사용한 수많은 사람들이 폐질환에 걸리고 사망하는 사건이 발생했습니다.
2016년 현재 신고 된 사망자는 1058명이나 그 수는 계속 늘어나고 있습니다.
피해자는 주로 어린이와 노인, 산모가 대다수였습니다.

"산소마스크를 쓰고 있어도 숨을 못 쉬었습니다."

"임신한 아내와 태아를 잃었습니다."

"폐 이식 등록하고 3개월 만에 폐 이식을 했습니다."
"병원 없이는 제가 살수가 없어요."

기업과 정부는 가습기 살균제가 인체에 유해하다는 것을 알고 있었지만 이에 대한 정보들을 조작하고 숨겨 왔습니다.
피해자들과 환경단체가 기업과 국가를 상대로 싸운 결과 2016년 국회청문회가 열렸고 그 피해사실을 인정했습니다.
가습기살균제를 사용한 명확한 증거와 병원에서 인정한 피해사실이 있지만 많은 피해자들이 손해배상에서 제외되었습니다. 한 연구소는 앞으로 가습기살균제 피해자가 수십 만 명으로 늘어날 것이며 사망자도 수 만 명에 이를 것으로 예측했습니다.
이에 기업과 정부는 모든 책임을 져야할 것입니다.

In 2011, people suffered from lung disease and many were killed for using the disinfectant for humidifiers. Presently in 2016, 1058 were killed, but the death toll is rising.
Victims were mostly juvenile, the old, patients in the hospital – especially women in childbed and juvenile.

The company and government already knew how toxic is the disinfectant for humidifiers. However, they fabricated and covered up this fact.
The victims and environmental organizations fought with the company and country, and as a result, the congressional hearing was established and they acknowledged the damages.
However, the company and government are avoiding their responsibility and are not establishing damage limitations.
Even though there are clear evidence to the use of toxic disinfectant for humidifiers in hospitals, but many victims have been excluded in compensation for damages.
A research institute is estimating that the victims to the toxic disinfectant for humidifier will grow to ten thousands of people and that thousands can be killed.
The company and government should take responsibility.
